A database based on the books "Våre falne 1939-45" (Our Fallen Ones 1939-45)
The database "Våre Falne" (Our Fallen Ones) is one of the most important sources to the Norwegians that died in the Second World War. Trygve Stokkan digitized the four-volume work “Våre falne 1939-45” (Our Fallen Ones 1939-45) that was published in 1949-51 on the initiative of the government in 1945. This way, the information in the books was made available for a larger audience.
Relaunched in cooperation with VG
April 9th 2015, the database was relaunched with a new look, in cooperation with VG. (A Norwegian newspaper “VG.no” or “Verdens Gang”). They made a new search tool on their websites, where pictures from the books were linked to Slekt og Data’s digitized material. You will also have access to a map-based presentation of all the deaths on the same page.
The “Our Fallen Ones” -books are available at the National Library (Nasjonalbiblioteket) Volumes (links): bind 1, bind 2, bind 3 and bind 4.
